Even though it was "Alex' turn" to spend Christmas with his family (we got them for Thanksgiving this year) - he made it possible for us to see him and Melissa too. They were spending the week with his sister, Emily (and family), in Lansing, Michigan. Since Lansing is only 2 1/2 hours from South Bend, she offered to have us come up too. Alex contacted us and said if we wanted to come up, he'd like to surprise Melissa with our visit. We'd gotten in to South Bend Sunday evening, and went to the movies with our dear friends Bev & Kevin. Then Monday morning (Christmas Eve) we got up early, took Mom out to breakfast at Nick's Patio (where she ate like a starving farm hand), and to the grocery store - and then headed up to Emily & Sean's. We got there about 2:00 and stayed till 7:00. It was great! Melissa was sooo surprised to see us and even let a tear escape! What a wonderful Christmas for us all.
