Cruising

I know, I know! We took the cruise a month ago and I still didn't have any photos up from it. Man! - It's just hard to get good help these days. Anyway, here's some fun shots and great sights.Just boarded the boat in San Pedro (about 30 minutes from the LAX airport)Love those life-boat drills - personally, I think I look good in orange

The pool looks like so much fun, but the salt water taste spoils the effect.
And a cruise isn't complete without dance lessons!
In San Diego, we took the harbor tour - that's the famous Coronado Bridge behind me. If you were a Simon & Simon fan, you saw it in the opening credits for that television show - and it's been featured on several others too.
After the tour, we visited the USS Midway, permanently docked in San Diego. We took an audio tour of the ship and saw lots of planes and helicoptors - but I'm not the expert on those!
Catalina Island is probably our favorite stop - isn't it beautiful? We walked the streets of Avalon - the city and took a bus ride up to the Airport in the Sky
Can you believe how close Jack got to that eagle? And the rattle snake just to his right didn't bother him a bit
No these aren't family photos! Couldn't leave out this great photo of the buffalo on the island. They were brought over for movie films waaay back, and every year, some are sent to an Indian Reservation in the Dakotas to keep the herd size down on Catalina. And they are protected there - no buffalo burgers allowed!
Our last stop was Ensenada, Mexico where we visited La Bufadora - an amazing natural geyser. Pictures can't do it justice.
While I was taking 1,000 pictures of the geyser, Jack was getting a good view from the rocks. Notice the sign behind him? It says Do Not Climb on the Rocks! Good thing he can't read Spanish, huh?
Haven't figured out how to rotate an image, but thought you'd enjoy a view of my lunch while we were in Ensenada. It's a seafood stuffed avocado - and it was really tasty at first, as long as I didn't look at it too closely. Jack pointed out stuff that looked like octopus tenacles, but then all I could see were eyes looking at me - so that's one meal that didn't get finished!
We absolutely LOVED our suite - it was a great upgrade from our usual staterooms. The balcony was so nice! I think that's Catalina in the background,
Did I mention we loved our suite? The queen sized bed was so comfy and chocolates always found their way to our pillows before bedtime. I'm leaning on my Catalina Island beach towel, a nice souvenier of the trip.
Of course no cruise is complete with the towel animals - thanks to our somewhat bashful and quiet room steward. To complete all the fun - Jack ended up ON STAGE at the finale show on the ship. He bid for the privilege (with the proceeds going to the Make A Wish Foundation) and was able to introduce one of the guests that night. Who woudl have thought he was such a ham?
Oh yeah, I'm up there too now. They brought in all the staff of the ship (below us on the floor) and we were able to show our appreciation for a great trip. Not sure who was steering the boat at that time
