Just a month ago I posted a photo of Mom on her 82nd birthday. Two weeks later (minus a day), Mom passed away and now is fully at peace. I'm so thankful for the many wonderful memories and for the lessons she taught me. It's so hard to believe that she is really gone. Dad passed away in 1978, so she was a widow for 31 years, and she's not alone anymore. As hard as it is to let her go, all of us knew that she was not living the life she wanted. Alzheimer's is an ugly disease, that robs the person who has it, as well as all of their loved ones. The blessings include the fact that Mom was able to stay in her own home until June of this year, she was always fully mobile, never needing a walker, never having been bedridden, never ending up in a nursing home. That's a lot to be thankful for. As Thanksgiving approaches, I hope we can be truly thankful for the many good things, and thankful for the family that Mom gave us. I love you Mom.
