Christmas at the Farmhouse - part 1

We had a wonderful Christmas with the family. We picked up Melissa and Alex at Midway Airport (Chicago) and spent Sunday-Wednesday nights with them in South Bend at a wonderful farmhouse we rented. On Christmas Eve morning, we drove to Angola to meet up with Alex' sister and family, and they all headed to PA for the Van Fleet family Christmas. The photo on the left is Melissa enjoying the quarter horses on the farm.

We stopped at the Bass Pro Shop in Portage Sunday night for dinner at their restaurant - Laismirado. Don't bother!!

Monday evening we drove to Middlebury (cause we just never get tired of driving and being in the car) and introduced Alex to Das Essenhaus! Yummy. Don't judge by the skeptical looks on their face - they loved the food.

On Wednesday, Jack and Alex visited South Bend's College Football Hall of Fame. All those years in South Bend, Jack had never been there. And of course, Melissa and I could live without that excitement.

So on Wednesday, Melissa and went over to the Miller's house, so we could visit with Marcy, Ryan and their 1 month old son, Evan. He's such a cutie!

These wine glasses were my Christmas present from Melissa and Alex. I'd asked for one nice, hand-painted wine glass (cause they are so expensive and I drink alone-ha ha). Instead, they got 6 glasses and painted them themselves. Melissa did the Christmas one, with a snowman on one side and a Christmas tree on the back. She also did the Valentines one with Happy Valentine's Day on one side, and Happy anniversary on the back, with our wedding date, 2-14-79. Alex did the comedy and tragedy masks. Aren't these awesome - and soooo personal?!
