JOHNNY DEPP is in the middle of the picture, in front of the car - wearing the brown jacket. Click on the photo to see him better - I couldn't zoom in without losing the quality. And yes, that's the closest I could get to him. I (Judy) went up to Columbus for the first day of filming - along with my friend, Linda. It was sooo cold out but it was worth it. See the fake snow? Not that there is a shortage of snow here in WI - but the fake stuff is cleaner, so they made their own. This is the actual car that Dillinger drove for the robbery. It's a 1932 emerald green Studebaker Commander sedan. It came from the Historic Auto Attraction museum in Illinois. There was a stipulation for the film-makers to borrow it, it has to be insured for $2 million, be kept under lock and key and stored in a temperature-controlled environment. |

It was stored in the museum's Gangsterland Room where a mammoth photo of Alcatraz serves as the dramatic backdrop. The car hadn't run in eight years and was taken to a mechanical and engineering crew to make it operable. It had a flathead V-8 and that meant it had a lot more power than many of the Fords that were running the flat V-6. (when you're John Dillinger - I guess you need a pretty fast car)The curator at Historic Auto Attractions purchased the Studebaker in January, 2001, for an undisclosed price. The museum is 36,000 sq. ft., and is just 50 miles south of Madison. It has more than 75 historically significant automobiles, and rooms such as "Kennedy Day in Dallas."

So who's this guy? Just an extra - can you tell that's his proud brother having his photo taken with him? There were many extras on the streets, and it was sure a lot easier to get their picture than it was Johnny's (well, duh). Of course you know that Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard are in the movie too - but I guess they weren't around for the infamous Greencastle bank robbery. |
And now - Jack's favorite part, the old cars. I talked to some of the people in them. They are the owners of the cars and while they personally won't be in the movie, their cars will be. On Monday, they were just driving them around to different streets and doing a lot of parking. They were there to help block sight-lines of the modern days cars as well.

well how cool is that!!!
