Still Winter in Wisconsin

Since the weather is actually getting warmer this week - it should be in the 40's by the weekend - I decided I'd better finish my posts about life in Wisconsin this winter. Here's a beautiful picture of hoar-frost on the trees. Very cold that morning, but it was beautiful to wake up to. I think this has been the mildest winter we've had since we moved here, I don't once remember having my nose hairs freeze the second I walked outdoors - yea! Oh, and another sign of a warmer winter - we never once had to scrape ice off the inside of the car windows. Yeah, you know you're living someplace that is too cold when you have scrape the inside of your car windows! here's some more fun pictures for you.

Lots of lakes here in Madison, and I was fascinated with the huge group of people out ice fishing, any day of the week. Doesn't that look fun?

There were several people off to themselves fishing, but there was also a real sense of community, as people moved back and forth, kids played, etc. Not my thing, but to each his own...

Jack and I went back to South Bend for the Super Bowl so he could play cards with this great group of guys that we worked with at McDonald's. (not all of them, but most) They had a great time.

January 30 we joined close to 200 other volunteers at our church - Heartland Community Church in Sun Prairie - as we packed 50,000 meals for Haiti. Man, memories of McDonald's abound, I haven't worn a hairnet since I worked there!
Our friend Amy helped us that Saturday too. Thanks Amy!!
